Why the name Bougie??
Someone asked me what I meant by “bougie” what is “bougie”?
Those who know, know, but for those that don’t, here you are…
Bougie is a short term for bourgeois, and if you look up the word bourgeois, you see it has a few meanings. One definition from Oxford Dictionary, says, “Bourgeois is of or characteristic of the middle class, typically with referenced to it’s perceived materialistic values or conventional attitudes.”
Another definition states that bougie is someone of lower class with expensive taste.
But what do I mean by it and why in the heck would I name my products after such a name?
Most people that know me, know that I am a cost conscious person. I don’t like spending money if I don’t have to. I’m always there when it comes to freebies, Sales, and discounts. But unfortunately, my skin doesn’t agree with that sentiment.
My skin demands that it has the finest things for itself. No skirting around cheap trinkets and freebies. So even while struggling financially, if I wanted my skin to not burst into inflammation and look horrid, I had to spend some coins on this part of my life.
So cheap on the outside, or on the inside?? But my skin is living lavishly; which is why I decided to create my relief, which the market couldn’t provide at that moment - and let me tell you this was no pretty penny!
I started calling my skin bougie, “Oh my skin is too bougie for that!” “I can’t wear that, my bougie skin isn’t having it!”
I would break out over scents, stress, fabric, the harshness of water, who did this bougie skin think she was? Did this bitch think I could afford water softener and linen sheets? Guess I had to find a way, if I wanted less breakouts and glowing skin.
So bougie butter was born a long with bougie spray, bougie oil, and coming soon, bougie soap. Or maybe bougie cleanser? Tell me what you I should name the soap bar? oOoOO, bougie bar!
Anywho, that’s where the name “bougie” came from and what it means to me. Time to take care of your bougie skin with my bougie products.
